Building on our forestry roots and extensive experience across the province, we have expanded our professional scope to provide a multi-disciplinary range of services for our clients not only in the forest industry, but in sectors including transportation, utilities, mining and oil and gas. The DWB forestry department specializes in pre-harvest timber development, comprehensive planning services, timber valuation and a wide variety of silviculture services. Combined with additional services from the engineering, environmental, and geomatics departments, DWB is able to provide complete multi-phase timber development services for our clients. Our skilled staff can satisfy a wide range of clients’ requirements and create effective solutions for custom silviculture and reforestation projects. Our inter-disciplinary staff are able to provide innovative solutions to non-traditional forestry projects including rehabilitation, revegetation, and harvest planning and permitting across many other industries.
The DWB engineering department specializes in transportation and civil projects, including road and highway design, stream crossing design (bridges and culverts), hydrotechnical studies and river engineering. Related services include topographic ground and UAV (drone) surveys, construction engineering and supervision, hydrographic/bathymetry surveys, traffic management planning, quality plan development, bridge inspections and structural load rating analysis. To plan for an unknown future, climate change integration using accepted provincial guidelines is key to our hydrotechnical assessments and related crossing designs.
DWB has a skilled team of professionals experienced in reclamation, rehabilitation and restoration planning and implementation. Our technical experts assist clients in the oil and gas, mining, transportation, power, and aggregate sectors successfully reclaim and restore disturbed lands and aquatic environments to previous capabilities or pre- disturbance ecosystems. DWB works with clients to minimize their reclamation obligations over the life of operations by utilizing a unique endpoints approach to vegetation monitoring. This approach identifies vegetation cover that is self-sustaining, following the intended successional trajectory and is pursuant to the end land use objective, which can then be released from further works.
